The IFSF Food Pantry was established in 2009. It started from just a couple of concerned community members wanting to provide assistance to those in need. They got approval to use a cabinet in the cafeteria Salah Tawfik Elementary and Middle School, in the back of the building. Non-perishable items were donated and stored in the cabinet, and then distributed to needy families. Over time, a single cabinet grew to 2 cabinets, then 3, and soon much of the cafeteria kitchen was being used. Volunteers poured in from the community to help pack boxes for distribution. During Ramadan, efforts were increased to distribute boxes weekly instead of monthly. Then in 2013, the food pantry secured a warehouse unit, separate from the IFSF building, around half a mile away. A truck was also purchased to facilitate the distribution of food. Alhamdulillah thanks to the countless donors and volunteers, the effort continues to grow, and in 2017 the food pantry has moved from the previous warehouse unit to a larger unit almost double the previous size. There, they keep non-perishable groceries, meat, as well as clothing items. The IFSF Food pantry now provides monthly distribution of boxes of non-perishable items to over 250 families in the community who are experiencing hardship.
